After watching this video two words come to mind, science and technology, and the many facets of both are broad, from medical and genetic research, to the shifts in communications, and the way we communicate as we know it, the paradigm shift is occurring right now on all fronts. The question is, will America be able to produce innovators that will lead the way, or will we become followers of technologies that were created in other countries? I don’t think so!, but I have to say the answer to that question is complex based on the rate at which some other countries are producing Scientists, engineers, Doctors, and medical research professionals.

As Americans must rise to the challenge of the twenty-first century and place importance back on God, community, and education.

I am stepping down from my soapbox.
I have personally made new goals for higher education based on my research, and other individuals research whom are much smarter than myself.

But really, what will be the top in demand jobs and careers for 2010 and beyond?

Software engineers for computers and computer systems – If the information in the video was even half right which I am sure it is more than half right , the demand for these types of jobs would surely be at a 50 to 75% growth rate.

Network and computer support specialists – Someone will have to maintain all those computers, and computer networks, I work in the industry, and I know that everything has an average mean time to failure.

Information System Managers that oversee all the techno-geeks like me that keep thing running smoothly.

Database administrators – All of these millions of applications and running servers and computers have complex databases that need to be maintained and kept free from of corruption and running smoothly.

Note: With this exponential growth in technology, these workers will also be needed to install and maintain all of the new equipment that will be required to run the worlds information systems.

Customer service reps- To answer all of the support calls and solve technical problems for all of these computer systems, and the softwares, and databases, and web applications that run on them etc… etc…

Desktop publishers- OK all you copywriters, photo-shop experts, etc… with the state of the economy, and the technologies that are available now, I think businesses will look for people with these additional skills to create publications in-house.

Healthcare professionals- From Doctors, Nurses, Physicians assistants, Physical therapists, Surgeons, down to the lowest rung hospital and health care workers. Let’s face it, millions of baby boomers are coming of age, literally, there will be more elderly people that ever before, living longer, and many will be in need of quality health-care.

Quality top notch Sales people- Sales can be very lucrative if you are good, although more and more, sales people will need to be more technically adept at grasping and conveying the concepts of ever increasing complex solutions to their prospective customers.

Criminal justice workers- More people equal more crime, more crime equals more need to process and prosecute the bad people who commit the crimes. nuf said

Teachers and professors – How could I have forgotten, someone has to teach all the people to read and write, and be able perform all of those technically challenging jobs, and must I say God bless them.

I will be adding to this list dynamically as I observe and read current events and try to keep my head above the proverbial technical sea of information.
