R.I.P. Grasshopper David Carradine Kung Fu one of my all time favorite 1970’s TV series

Sad news this morning, David Carradine has been found dead in a hotel in Bangkok Thailand.
David Carradine played the starring role in the 1970’s Kung Fu TV series, It was one of my favorite shows that I regularly watched. A while back I rented the entire series and watched them again just to introduce some old school stuff to my kids, unfortunately it could not hold their attention for long, it’s a shame cause I loved it as a kid.

David Carradine was 73 and it appears from the first news reports that came in that he died of natural causes, but now news agencies are reporting that he was believed to have committed suicide by hanging himself in his hotel room. Either way it is still sad to see him pass.

There is a lot of information about David Carradine and the all time popular TV series that he starred in on the wikipedia page here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kung_Fu_(TV_series)

Also here are some of the news stories about David Carradine’s death.

How much resveratrol do you have to take or red wine should I drink for it to benefit my health ?

I read these articles I come across that state you would have to ingest huge quantities of resveratrol to realize the health benefits.

Well I found that I could not drink red wine, it seemed to react in a negative way with a medicine that I take, I’ll spare you the details, so I rolled over to my local walgreens and purchased a bottle of resveratrol supplement. I have to say I was wondering if the walgreens brand I found was really the real thing? It took forever for me to find it hidden among the wall of vitamins, minerals and herbals. It cost me just around 10 bucks, I took it for a month and then ran out, I need to refill it, but just have not found the time. :)

How much resveratrol do you have to take, or red wine drink for it to benefit your health ?

Take a look at this article I found that suggests allot of resveratrol.

Resveratrol: Fountain of Youth or Waste of Money

by Mike Howard Red wine drinkers have been toasting to better health and longer life with all of the news pieces on the miracle that is resveratrol – a component of red grape skin and some other fruits. Let’s sift through the claims and hype and see

So in a nutshell I think what they are saying here is, if you are going to seek the health benefits of resveratrol, you are going to have find a concentrated source of it in order for you to see the real health affects. I did quite a bit of research on the web and found that Biotivia seems to back the claims of their product with some fairly hefty R&D on the subject. The deal I found on Amazon may be better than on Biotivia’s site, Amazon offers free shipping sometimes.

I always like to check wikipedia as well, very interesting information here that supports possible longevity and and anti-aging properties of resveratrol.

“Search for immortality may be within reach” – Google news headline somewhat confusing, but hey it’s catchy and makes you want to click.

So I ran across this headline on google news, it, the headline that is, made me want to click it to check it out. Once on IEET’s website I did somewhat understand the correlation between the headline and the link to the article about an upcoming conference on what role physical enhancements, “the upgraded body” have on the disabled and the non-disabled, and the ethical issues that technology driven age enhancement carries.

Copywriting works, example, I a 40+ year old starting feel and see the first effects of aging suddenly has a keen interest in wanting to regain my youth.

The conference sounds very intriguing, and opened a new thought process for me on this subject.

How did the US economy come close to failing ? Government Bailout, oh my, Is it over ?

How did the US economy come close to failure? I have been trying to understand the full scope of the tumble on wall street, the sub-prime mortgage crisis, and the banking bailout for the past few weeks.
After all I am just your average everyday tech geek on the street bombarded by media signals from every side, it is wonder people like me can even think coherently, or focus to complete a task these days.

Anyway about two years ago I was summoned to serve on the grand jury in my county, needless to say I was not one of the lucky people they let go. ;-) While hearing hundreds of cases pending indictment, I met a businessman who was a vp of regional mortgage loans with Wachovia bank. Some how we got into a conversation about how it was that so many people it seemed where able to afford 4, 5 and 6 hundred thousand dollar houses? , and I said I must be in the wrong profession. Well he went on to tell me that no, most of these people where obtaining interest only loans that had an ARM “Adjustable Rate Mortgage” attached to them, and that based on their income they could barely afford to pay the interest on the mortgage, much less be able to make the payments once the ARM adjusted and their payment doubled or tripled. He went on to fortel then of the impending dark cloud that was gathering, and all he kept saying was that it was going to be bad, then his blackberry chirped and our conversation was cut short.

So again, I have been trying to dig up the entire story on this to fully understand it, low and behold yesterday while flipping through the channels I came across a fox news special called Saving Our Economy.

It was very well layed out in order of the events that led up to this mess, and although I try to stay away from CNN and Fox these days just because in the words of the John Mayer song waiting on the world to change, ”when you trust your televison, what you get is what you got, cause when they own the information they can bend all they want”, but I do have to say they did a good job, and I don’t think that you would ever see a like report of this clarity broadcast on CNN’s airwaves, just becuse IMO they do bias much of the news they report. I miss they days when movie stars just entertained, and rock stars just produced good music, and news reporters reported the news, but those days are gone.

So this fox news report kept coming back to me over the course of the day and I had to find it again. I did not even remember the title of it, just the content that had made an impression on me. I searched for it on the fox news website through their search engine for like 20 minutes, needless to say their onsite search engine has something to be desired, umm when you can can’t even find a report that was broadcast the day before? So on to trusty google, and I enter the keywords “sunday october 19th fox news special economy” and wa la, thanks to googles superior search engine, and youtube, and specifically a youtuber with the handle borntwyce who somehow was good enough sport to cronicle the entire report in 6 parts.

So rather than ramble on about all the stuff that bugs me, take a look, again well done Fox News…
